EN 1591 – Flange connections

The PROBAD solution "EN 1591 Flange Design" permits re-checking or designing of flanged joints in line with the EN 1591.

For standard flanges based on DIN, EN, ASME-B16.5 and ASME-B16.47A/B16.47B dimensions for flanges, bolts and gaskets and clamping parts (washers, expansion sleeves, Hytorc dics resp. Hytorc expansion nuts) are stored in a database and can always be retrieved into convenient, easy-to-use input panels.

For sure it is also possible to enter non-standard measures.

As flange types are available:

  • weld-on flanges, welding-neck flanges, slip-on flanges, put-in flanges with tube stopper, integral flanges, blind flange, threaded flanges and
  • stub constructions with loose rings as weld-on stub, welding-neck stub, slip-on stub, put-in stub with tube stopper, integral weld-on stub, blind stub as well as
  • collar construction with loose rings as welding collars or as welding collar with long neck.

 For the given loads (pressures, temperatures, forces and moments) the usage ratios are determined for:

  • the flanges including the connection, if available (cylindrical, conical, spherical, hemispherical shell, dished head)
  • the bolts and
  • the gasket in consideration of the parameters according to EN 1591-2 or according to the in the Internet portal www.gasketdata.org published parameters, which were messured by the manufactors of the gaskets.

 In one single calculation step the flange connection is proved for the assembly condition and for up to 9 subsequent conditions.

Special verifications e.g. via entering the nominal tighten torque, the bolt force, the maximum flange rotation or the minimum usage ratio of the bolts are possible.
